=== About "Iron Henkei-Shibori" technique ===
Metal hammering technique "Shibori" is divided broadly into two types: making a form of rotation, such as normal 'Kaiten-Shibori,' and making a free-form, such as applicative 'Henkei-Shibori.'
Henkei-Shibori requires many additional hammers and Ategane (backing steel tools), enhanced hammering techniques, a lot of time and efforts.
Based on my discoveries and experiences, board thickness and fatigue must be controlled entirely. Also, its making process is very complicated.
Because of the hardness of iron, it would be super difficult to apply Henkei-Shibori to iron. It's commonly used on softer metal like silver or copper.
=== The advantages of "Iron Henkei-Shibori" ===
It is also possible and easy that making a pouring spout separately and then jointing them by welding or brazing. However, since there is no joint with this pouring spout, its curved surface is very smooth and clear.
Common Japanese iron kettles are made by casting. The weight of this Iron Kettle is exceedingly light, it can't even compete with cast iron ones. Also, this kettle won't crack by drop impact or temperature difference like them.
And thanks to excellent heat conduction, you can boil water with less firepower and time than cast iron kettles.
=== Regarding handle and lid ===
The handle of the body and the finger grip of the lid are made by forging. Those are secured by handmade rivets to avoid spoiling the entire atmosphere.
The lid is made with two sheets iron by Shibori technique. Two sheets iron are secured by "Fukurin-dome" technique (rim covered). Fukurin-dome also became as a decorative accent in the simple form.
